The band's second and final album, Under Thunder and Fluorescent Lights, was released in 2000 on Touch and Go and remains a standout document of Storm & Stress’ strange and compelling world — where math-rock precision dissolved into improvisational jazz impulses, and songs unfolded like live experiments. Formed in Pittsburgh by Ian Williams (later of Battles), Eric Emm and Kevin Shea, the trio pushed the limits of structure and spontaneity, leaving behind a small but enduring legacy.
